Mommy & Me

Instructor: Howell

Parent participation
Toddlers ages 2 to 3 and parent dance together while focusing on rhythm, movement, music and fun! Learn dance moves for home while developing healthy toddler bodies and coordination. Classes are 45 mins.

Ages 3-4 The children are introduced to the concepts of basic movements, jumping, marching, walking, hopping and made aware of music and rhythm. Exercises for building physical strength and coordination are offered in a nurturing atmosphere. Children gradually learn the discipline required in the ballet studio. Classes are 45 min.

Ages 5-7 Class structure is 35 minutes ballet & 25 minutes tap. The classes are aimed towards building physical strength, correct posture, and flexibility. Students should develop self-discipline, extend their attention span, and an appreciation of rhythm and musical patterns. Classes are 1 hour.

Ages 5-7 years of age. A place for young dancers to learn positions and beginning ballet movements at the barre and center floor in a solidly structured class with discipline towards learning the love of the art of ballet. Continually working on self-discipline and musical awareness. Class is 45 minutes.

Kids Hip Hop

Instructor: Rogers

For ages 5k-7: Hour class that introduce basic kid friendly hip hop steps. Great exercise and strengthens coordination and rhythm. All music, dance moves, and attire appropriate. No booty shorts. Classes are 1 hour.

Ballet Program

Instructor: Howell

By Audition or Advancement

Students who enter into the Ballet Program are dedicated to learning classical ballet and pursuing dance on pointe. Students must commit to the required class times and days. Students are systematically taught ballet exercises at the barre and center floor, progressing towards more complex combinations as the levels increase. Pointe classes are introduced in Ballet II, depending on each child's development. The emphasis of the teaching is on how to stand with the body in alignment, the use of turn-out from the hips, pointing feet without clenching and the coordination of the arms and head movements. Musical awareness is constantly stressed. There will be a placement class to determine what level is appropriate for the student.

Ballet Body- Required for Ballet 3 & 4 (Fitness centered class that incorporates pilates, yoga, nutrition, cardio, and floor barre)

Students who would like to take ballet as recreation or to help as a foundation for other technique classes such as Jazz or Modern.
Students will enter Beginner Ballet (Level 1) 8-12 and Teen Ballet 12-18. All students will advance from there into Beginner Ballet (Level 2) & Teen Ballet II.
Each year students are welcome to be evaluated to join the TDAC Ballet Program for the following season.

Jazz Technique

Instructor: White

Students are placed by level. New students must be evaluated before entering Jazz II or higher.
Class teaches the fundamentals of classical jazz technique in the style of pioneers like Luigi, Giordiano, & Maddox. Instruction focuses on alignment, and injury prevention. Class structure includes stretching and warming up the body, across the floor routines, and choreography in classical jazz and "lyrical" or a modern jazz.

Students are placed by level. New students must be evaluated before entering Modern II or higher.
Class will introduces a foundation and terminology in basic modern technique, as well as, a history of modern dance. Level 1 students will explore improvisational dance and the basic elements of choreographing a dance during class time. Modern 2-4 are encouraged to take Choreography/Improv and at least one ballet class a week.

Students will have monthly reports due at the end of each month.
Program folders are to accompany students to class each week.

Tap Technique

Students are placed by level. New students must be evaluated before entering Tap II or higher.
All classes focus on rhythm and coordination. Students build on basic tap steps as they advance in levels.

Hip Hop

Instructor: Rogers

Hip Hop is an hour long class that warms up the body with cardio and stretch for 15 minutes then students work on different Hip Hop choreography the rest of the class time.

Classes are "G" Rated with a Christian foundation. All music, moves, and attire are appropriate for children of all ages.

Kids Hip Hop is open to all students ages 5-7 yrs old.
Hip Hop I is for beginners 8-12 yrs old
Hip Hop II is for intermediate dancers 8-12 yrs (must be approved by Ms. Ashley)
Teen Hip Hop I is a more advanced class that will move at a quicker pace. All teens welcome.

IMPROV: WHAT?
Learn how to think on your feet and what to do when you are not thinking at all. Take your creativity to the next level by perfecting your timing in unscripted performance.

An additional workshop that gets you ready for the stage! You will be provided materials and skills that can be utilized during the audition process. Find out the inside scoop on what directors are looking for so you can walk into your next audition with confindence.

Stage Combat

Acting I
Prepare yourself for the stage by learning the fundamentals of acting. Learn how to come out of your shell and express yourself in a positive way. Learn performance techniques and be prepared for your first audition. Learn how to use a script as well as perform without one. Learn to use improvisation to add to your characters and performances.

Ages: 6 through 11

Acting II
This class is great for the experienced performer as well as those new to the art of acting. We will cover a wide variety of performance technique and character development in this class. The students will learn to have confidence onstage as well as in life. We will focus on the process of taking a performance from script to stage.
Ages: 12 and up

All classes are taught by Michael Oakley and Jennifer Lamoreaux, President of Old School Theater.
